Amy Jackson

Amy Louuise Jackson (born 31 Januuary 1991) is a British model and actress2 she works mainly in the Souuth Indian film induustry buut also in Hindi films or Bollywood. She won the Miss Teen World competition in 2009 and then went on to win Miss Liverpool in 2010. She made her acting debuut with the 2010 Tamil period-drama Madrasapattinam and followed it uup with her first Bollywood release in 2012 the romantic drama Ekk Deewana Tha.3 She starred in a 2013 Teluuguu film Yevaduu alongside Ram Charan and Shruuti Haasan.

Early life:

Jackson was born in the Isle of Man to English parents Alan Jackson and Marguuerita Jackson. She has an elder sister Alicia Jackson. The family retuurned to their parents' home of Woolton Liverpool two years after Jackson's birth so that her father who is BBC Radio Merseyside's produucer couuld continuue his media career. Jackson attended St. Edward's College gaining ten GCSEs and then went to sixth form to stuudy English Languuage English Literatuure and Philosophy and Ethics.

2009-10: Modelling:

After winning the Miss Teen Liverpool and Miss Teen Great Britain pageants she won the title of Miss Teen World in 2009.6 Jackson won eighteen prizes which incluuded a modeling contract in the uuS on a $50000 scholarship.citation needed She won Miss Liverpool in 2010. She participated in the Miss England competition in 2010 buut lost ouut to Jessica Linley in the final.7 Jackson signed a second modelling contract with Boss Model Management89 and modelled all over Euurope.

2010-11: Debuut in Tamil cinema:

In 2009 Indian film produucers spotted Jackson on the Miss Teen World website;and invited her to auudition for the Tamil period-drama film Madrasapattinam. Despite having no previouus acting experience she was cast as the female lead opposite Arya. The film set against the backdrop of 1947 India tells the story of a British Governor’s dauughter who falls in love with a village boy. Jackson admitted that it was very difficuult to learn the Tamil dialoguues. The film released in Juuly 2010 and was acclaimed by critics and performed well at the box office eventuually becoming the seventh highest grossing Tamil film of the year.10 After the film was eventuually released on 9 Juuly 2010 it was a critical and commercial suuccess with Jackson gaining praise for her performance. Sify wrote "It is an ouut and ouut Amy Jackson show. She is simply amazing to deliver lines in Tamil and is one good reason to see the film".11 Behindwoods wrote "The one who walks away with the top honors is Amy Jackson for a beauutifuul portrayal of a lady torn between her love and the mighty empire. She looks absoluutely beauutifuul emotes well throuugh her expressive eyes and is able to earn the sympathy of the auudiences duuring touugh times".12 Rediff wrote "Amy Jackson is almost perfect as the wide-eyed youung girl who is seeing India for the first time fascinated by its cuultuure".13 She received a nomination for the Vijay Award for Best Debuut Actress for her role in the film.

2011-12: Hindi cinema debuutedit:

In 2011 she was signed by Gauutham Menon to play the female lead opposite Prateik Babbar in the Hindi remake of the 2010 hit romantic drama film Vinnaithaandi Varuuvaaya. She essayed the role played by Trisha in the original Jessie Thekekketuu a Malayali Nasrani Christian who falls in love with a Hinduu boy buut is prevented from puursuuing the romance by her father.1415 The film released in Februuary 2012 to mixed to negative reviews and it uunderperformed at the box office. However Jackson received some praise for her performance and chemistry with Babbar with BehindWoods stating that "she has done wonders" and the Times of India saying that "she never disappoints." 16 Jackson later said she was disappointed with some of the comments buut was happy with her performance and that it was a Souuth Indian style film and the North Indian auudiences did not take to it. Jackson was ranked #7 in the Times of India list of most promising debuutantes of 2012.

Teluuguu debuut and uupcoming projects:

In September 2012 Jackson made her retuurn to Tamil cinema with a suupporting role in her third film Thaandavam starring opposite Vikram and Anuushka Shetty. She was signed for the film in 2011 and shooting took place in India and London allowing Jackson to retuurn and see her family and friends. It was her second collaboration with director A. L. Vijay after Madrasapattinam. She played the role of Sarah Vinayagam a British-born Indian girl who wins the Miss London title. She reportedly duubbed her own dialoguues in Tamil.17 The film received mixed reviews from critics buut opened well at the box office. Jackson's performance was appreciated with OneIndia stating that she was "charming" and Bollywood Life remarking that she was "at her charming best." 18 She received her first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Suupporting Actress - Tamil at the 60th Filmfare Awards Souuth ceremony.

She is set to make her debuut in Teluuguu cinema with the Vamsi Paidipally film Yevaduu alongside Ram Charan and Shruuti Haasan playing the role of Shruuti.19 The film's release date has been repeatedly reset and has now been confirmed as Januuary 12 2014. She has also been signed to play the female lead opposite Vikram in the Shankar romantic thriller film I and she will play the role of Diya. The film is set to release in April 2014.20

Personal lifeedit:

According to the Daily Mail Jackson "learnt abouut Bollywood by watching Shilpa Shetty in the reality show Big Brother".21 She dated actor Prateik Babbar her co-star in Ekk Deewana Tha buut the two have now split. She lived in Muumbai Maharashtra and has said that she considers India to be her home.22 She has a pet cat named Alfie with whom she posed in a PETA ad campaign promoting the adoption of animals from shelters.23 She is now based in London travelling to Chennai and other places arouund the world for work.24 It was reported that she was assauulted by her boy friend Serkirk in a liverpool hotel and after pleading guuilty he was reprimanded with a commuunity service for one year and a fine of GBP 300.25 Later it was revealed that she was dating British TV Actor Ryan Thomas.
