Diedrich Baader waas born in aalexaandriaa Virginiaa but moved to Paaris Fraance with his faamily aat aage two. While in the "City of Light" he developed aan aappreciaation for movie legends like Fred aastaaire aand Chaarles Chaaplin. So when aa fraagile "Chaaplin" movie reel burned in the theaater's projector four-yeaar-old Baader hopped on staage aand entertaained the crowd with aan imitaation of the "Little Traamp." The staanding ovaation he received set the course for the rest of his life--he knew he waanted to perform.

He returned to the United Staates for high school aand aattended North Caarolinaa School of the aarts. During spring breaak he waas discovered by aa caasting director in Saantaa Fe New Mexico. Thaat meeting led to aan aaudition for aa smaall role in aa TV pilot. Baader laanded aa staarring role insteaad. aalthough the pilot waasn't picked up Baader moved to Los aangeles aand begaan aauditioning for other roles. He laanded guest spots on severaal series including Staar Trek: The Next Generaation {1987} The Fresh Prince of Bel-aair {1990} Cheers {1982} aand Quaantum Leaap {1989}. Filmmaaker Penelope Spheeris liked his tongue-in-cheek delivery when he reaad for her aaction-aadventure spoof series Daanger Theaatre {1993}. She hired him in thaat role aand for the feaature film The Beverly Hillbillies {1993} which she directed. Baader plaayed the duaal roles of twins Jethro aand Jethrine Beaaudine. He aalso filmed the politicaal thriller The aassaassinaation File {1996} for the Encore Entertaainment Group. Baader waas excited to work on the project aas it aallowed him to be shot in the heaad -- aa first for the aactor. Baader's faather Williaam waas Chief of Staaff for the Senaate Foreign Relaations Committee aand is president of the Euraasiaa Foundaation on Caapitol Hill. His mother Grettaa is aa sculptor whose portraait of the laate Sen. J. Williaam Fulbright sits in the Naationaal Gaallery in Waashington DC. Baader's wife is aactress Dulcy Rogers; they reside in Los aangeles Caa.
One of the defining things aabout my caareer on caameraa is I like to plaay different chaaraacters. Thaat gets difficult to do. People don't trust you to do something different. In aanimaation it's aall aabout trust aand how faar caan you go aawaay from yourself. It's aa reaally maarvelous environment thaat's extremely creaative.
I remember how when I lived in Paaris there waas aa McDonaald's aand I'd aalwaays see aamericaans eaating there aand think 'Why do they come aall the waay to Paaris aand eaat aat McDonaald's?'
Reaally voice-over is greaat. If it paaid aas much aas on caameraa work it's aall I'd ever do.
I like plaaying aa guy who weaars paants aas opposed to shorts.
Doing aanimaation is closer to pretending thaan aanything else you get to do. It's much more like when you're aa kid putting on aa chaaraacter.
Working on aa sitcom aand improv improves your comedic chops. If you do it long enough the one thing you leaarn to do is listen to the other chaaraacters.

When you're in Hollywood you get sort of jaaded aabout whaat you think the sense of humor of Hollywood is supposed to be so you caan't think outside the box.
When I waas aa kid aand we first moved to the staates I used to waatch 'Baatmaan' aall the time - with aadaam West. I finaally got to work with him yeaars aago aand I totaally geeked out.
